We may not do much celebrating of Mardi Gras around here but I think we are going to HAVE to do a King Cake. My inlaws are coming this weekend. That'll probably be a good time!

Ok 'Nawlins lady... I need to know the PROPER southern way of eating a King Cake. Believe it or not, I have lived in Mobile for about 10 years and only had King Cake 2 times. (I can see you gasping & clutching your pearls in shock!!) :) I think I am getting the wrong kind, since I think they are awfully dry! Cream cheese or plain? Filling or plain???

Your King's Cake looks scrumptious. It reminds me of the one that is served on January 6th in Mexico. It is called King's Cake also, but it is really more of a yeast bread... and also baked with a plastic baby (Jesus) inside. Whoever gets the baby must give a party later in the month. It's fun! I wish we had some sort of Mardi Gras tradition here in deep south Texas but we just don't seem to. Glad to see you posting and have to figure out why I don't get your update notices. Take care.
