Did someone forgot to mention there is a recession!

We ventured out to pick up a birthday gift for a party tomorrow and all I can say is someone forgot to tell the city of Birmingham there was a recession. Every person in the city was at Toys R Us and the Galleria today! Oh my goodness! We waited 15 minutes for a table to eat at the food court! We did not get home until almost 5:00 PM and we left at 11:00 AM!

I did get the gift and we picked up a hat for Orry as he had out grown all of his. With this cold we had to have one. Ear infections are not our friend. Here it is:

I cannot wait to see him wear it!

Is that not too cute! Not sure it was worth 6 hours of my day, but we got it.

This is a Holiday week, have you gotten your Turkey? I have been laughing at the women in the grocery who are obviously preparing for their first Thanksgiving. You know the ones, very young asking everyone around them where the cranberry sauce is, buying 6 boxes of Stouffers, and a 50lb frozen turkey. Someone needs to tell them to start thawing it out now or it isn't going to be ready until New Year's. And no one is going to eat that cranberry jelly that permanently holds the shape of the can.

Oh well, we have all been there!

I got a really interesting email this week( I actually got it about 17 times). I thought it might be worth sharing here: Beware of the gift cards this year, read for yourself I will wait.......................

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that if you tend to give gift cards around the holidays, you need to be careful that the cards will be honored after the holidays. Stores that are planning to close after Christmas are still selling the cards through the holidays even though the cards will be worthless January 1. There is no law preventing them from doing this. On the contrary, it is referred to as 'Bankruptcy Planning. Below is a partial list of stores that you need to be cautious about.

Circuit City (filed Chapter 11)

Ann Taylor- 117 stores nationwide closing

Lane Bryant,

Fashion Bug ,

and Catherine's to close 150 stores nationwide

Oh, all done? That's a lot of info I know WHEW, glad there isn't a test! Should I also say, I have no idea if it is true!

But something to think about! It obviously wasn't common knowledge by the look of things today! You can all thank me later. I accept all gift cards, as I can wipe them out LONG before Jan 1, 2009!

So we were in the store buying some new "binkies" (Orry has so cleverly hidden all of his). Yea fun times at bed time without them. I put a pack in the basket and was distracted for a moment. When I turned around to him he had opened the package and put one of the new ones in his mouth! He had also thrown the only surviving binky from home on the floor. Have you guessed that it was one he did not like?

Olivia has a list for Santa that most likely killed 10 trees to make. Sorry to all the green people, will it help if I promise to recycle it? I do try to reduce, reuse and recycle. I am just not very good at like.... any of those. I do own enough reusable grocery bags to clear the shelves, I just forget them every time I go in the store. They should have a rack where you can hang them and pick them up when you come back the next time. Oh wait that won't work.... how would we get them home. Oh well!

I hope ya'll enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Beware of the kiosks at the Galleria it is like walking through market in Guadalajara!

someone actually tried to sell me a $200.00 curling iron. I either look as though I am made of money or like one of the stupidest people on earth! (no comments from the Peanut Gallery!)

I am NOT going to hit the Galleria at any point during the holidays (of course I am a LOOOOONG way from there but still...).

The hat was cute - pics of him modeling it please?

Hearing that everyone else is doing there holiday shopping makes me feel even more behind. :(

Hope you have a great week!
