CHRISTmas Eve at the blog plantation

CHRISTmas Eve is a busy day here at the Blog Plantation

We started off with a lemon cranberry cake for breakfast
CHRISTmas trees of course

It was wonderful

We baked Jesus a birthday cake
which you will get to see tomorrow!

We eagerly watched for Father CHRISTmas
to drop by our house

He finally came riding a fire truck

We lit the Christ candle in our Advent wreath
as we read from Luke and Mathew
as well as sang
Joy to the World and Silent Night

We had to have eggnog and cookies

And of course make Reindeer food
which we had to spread on the lawn in the rain

Only to wrap things up
by putting out the eggnog and cookies
 for Father CHRISTmas!

Merry CHRISTmas Y'all
and to all a good night!

JUST FYI about reindeer

According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December. Female reindeer, however, retain their antlers until after they give birth in the spring. Therefore, according to every historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, every single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen..... had to be a female. We should have known this.... Only women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night, and not get lost.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This was an elegant and magical event

What a fun night we have had!

hosted The Polar Express
and it was the most elegant Polar Express ride you will ever see!

The children were given milk and cookies upon arrival

Then we were asked to judge the gingerbread houses.
There were so many and they were all so beautiful
that I made a collage for you
(you can click to see it larger)

The conductor sat in front of the fireplace in the lobby
and prepared everyone

My little ones are in there!
Both looking straight a head and listening to every word!

As a reward, they got their sleigh bells
from Father Christmas!

What a week!

You never know who will ring your doorbell... No it wasn't Father Christmas

It was ......
THE GRINCH!!!!

Along with several of his friends!

He came bearing gifts,
so I took a chance
that he was in a festive mood
and let him in!

The GENEROUS business owners of
Old Towne
Helena
provided The Grinch with gifts to bring
to houses full of Christmas cheer.

and

How precious of them all.
We live in a fantastic city!
What a wonderful thing to do
and how humbled I am to call them friends!
My thanks will never express what it meant to my children!

The children were excited to see The Grinch.
They had just been tucked into bed, so they were briefly groggy.
What a surprise for us all.

The Princess sat and talked with him.
The Prince was still cautious until time for The Grinch to leave.
Then he showered him with hugs and kisses!

He wandered through the house.
And briefly tried to fright!

But he settled down quickly

We gave him a Biscotti.

He really liked my plate
I thought he might steal it.

Well, after all of the excitement of the evening.
I am going to say goodnight.
My heart is full of love and Christmas cheer!
I am so thankful for such amazing friends!

Goodnight, thanks for dropping by Y'all!

A little help as we prepare for holiday guests

I have shared my love of this product with you before.
As we all scurry about in preparation of the Holidays and our guests,
I thought I might mention it one more time.

You can purchase at Whole Foods
and a friend let me know that Target
will begin carrying this as a specialty item as well.
Not on the laundry isle.
Their selection will be limited.
I like the lemon verbena and my mother
loves the geranium
(which is the signature scent of The Grand Hotel.
They use this product as well).

I reserve this for my linens
and it is like being on vacation every night
when I climb into bed after a long day.
What a treat for your guests!

I hope you will love this as much as I do!

Your portrait in Gingerbread

It has been a wonderful day!

A day in our jammies and full of family activities!

We made a gingerbread family

It is interesting to see what your children
think of you when they immortalize you in gingerbread.

Daddy in his tux (Nutella of course)

Mommy in her evening gown
with sparkles

The Princess playing dress up

The Prince in his Jammies

We have gathered around our advent wreath and read from Luke 2: 8-20
Sung Christmas carols,
played the Wii Resort and will now settle in to watch The Nativity.

Thanks for dropping by Y'all!

You're a mean one Mr. Grinch!

Our little family had a visit with the Grinch today!

Jennifer and Dave

who own

and which we have the honor of calling friends,
have had the Grinch visiting with them for a day or two.
They graciously had us in to visit today.

He peeked in on us as we shopped

He posed with the Princess

Shook hands with the Prince
(who although was happy to see him
and recognized him
wouldn't get any closer)

He bid us farewell as we left

Thank Y'all for having us!
It was super fun!!

Y'all be sure to check out Wildflower Wax
they are the BEST candles you will ever buy!

Thanks for dropping by Y'all!

A night in Bethlehem

Last weekend at our church

AN AMAZING NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM..

For the second year in a row, Trinity hosted “A Night in Bethlehem”

It was a wonderful evening filled with the sights, sounds,

smells, tastes and feelings of the night that our Savior was born.

Over 1,100 people passed

through the “city’s marketplace”

and enjoyed a special

time with family and friends.

The evening included

a delicious Greek dinner

 During dinner,

people were entertained by

actors portraying a traditional

Roman-style feast, while

announcements were sung by

a Roman messenger.

After checking in at the census

table, participants entered the

gym which had been completely

turned into the city of

Bethlehem. Children and

adults participated in crafts

that were representative of the

time period, heard stories

from the town storyteller, and

even gambled some gold at

the Roman Soldier camp.

The Spice Booth was a popular activity.

Children had the opportunity to dress up in clothes from the time period.

Bethlehem visitors were also

turned away at the crowded

inn by the innkeeper. The

evening’s journey ended

outdoors at the live Nativity

where Mary, Joseph and

baby Jesus were serenaded

by the sound of angels. A

host of live stable animals

were present including

donkeys, sheep and goats.

Thank you to our church and the volunteers for such an incredible event!

Foodie Friday!

Thank you for joining us for Foodie Friday

Today as I promised, we are making truffles!
These are Oreo* truffles and they are "Wandarful"
Made by a precious friend of my parents Mrs. Wanda.
Her Husband Is Capt. Phil.
We made his crab canoes here.
So as you can tell, cooking for these two is a passion!

Now onto the truffles!

1 (16 ounce) package OREO* Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
1 (8 ounce) package PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
16 oz of candy Chocolate, melted (like almond bark, white chocolate, etc)

Crush the cookies to fine crumbs in food processor;  (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) place in medium bowl. Add cream cheese; mix until well blended. Roll cookie mixture into balls, about 1-inch in diameter.

Dip balls in melted chocolate; place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. If you would like to drizzle chocolate in a different color do so now. As you can see green was used on these. How cute would these be in red and green for Christmas?

Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.

Be sure to stop by Gollum for more fantastic Foodie Fridays!

Thanks for dropping by Y'all!
